After the disappointment of the Centenary Cup exit last week, Legacy had a chance to get that out of their system quickly with a fixture against Waterbeach, who so far have failed to make an impression on the Tucker Gardner Premier Division. They are currently on -3 points and have lost their opening 4 games. Welcomed back to the squad were Sam Asplen who had a long injury lay off and Simon Daniel who had been prevented from working due to work commitments. After an impressive showing at the back towards the end of the Swaffham game, Oli Brittain started at centre back.

The game started tentatively and very early on Andy Burns was unlucky to give away a penalty. A player who should have been stopped sooner made his way into the box, the ball was played past the outstretched leg of Andy and the player toppled over. The referee who was well placed correctly gave the penalty and there were no complaints from Legacy. Ricky who has already saved a penalty this season away at Wilbraham, didn't have anything to do for this one as the player dragged the ball just wide of the left post.

An early wake up call for Legacy brought them to life and for the first time in any game this season they took the lead. In his first appearance in 10/11 the returning Sam Asplen who was in an unfamiliar midfield role, burst through from the centre to latch on to a right wing Marvin Beckett cross. He slid and connected to put the ball into the net at the front post from around 12 yards out finishing a slick counter attacking move. The early let off from the penalty miss had clearly rejuvenated Legacy.

A second goal was added soon after when Legacy won a corner on the left wing, but not how you'd expect. The inswinging corner from Danny Smith evaded everyone and nestled inside the far post for his first goal of the season.

Marvin Beckett scored his 4th goal in all competitions later in the half, some good build up play and a run from Marvin into the box left him through on goal, a cool chip extended the lead.

Legacy were now cruising and Eddie Newman who'd had a couple of near misses, scored what was probably the hardest of any of his chances. The ball was played to him from midfield, as he usually does Eddie kept the ball and held up well. Some neat trickery to give him a yard on the right of his marker left a shot open from around 30 yards. Eddie let fly with his right foot and the keeper had no chance but to watch it go by inside his right post. Legacy now 4-0 up!

To summarise the second half, Legacy took their foot off the gas and shipped 3 goals and Waterbeach looked like they could turn it around from being 4 goals behind. Luckily Legacy got their act together through Eddie Newman who capitalised on a Waterbeach mistake and a delightful chip from Ollie Brittain sealed the points.
