After 2 cancellations of the fixture that was supposed to be at Ellesmere, Legacy once again had huge gaps between games and their stop start season continued. A very wide pitch greeted the team in Oakington, a lack of match sharpness might be telling and easy to exploit with Legacy having played 2 games since November.

The first half couldn't have gone worse for Legacy, with all depertments on the pitch playing too far apart Oakington were able to create chances at ease. Despite a resurgence in the last 10 minutes, some sloppy play from all over the park saw Legacy go in at half time 3-0 down.

It was going to take a big ask to get back into this game, but there was some hope after ending the half well. With the wind now blowing in their favour, Legacy came out for the second half making an unlikely comeback look possible. With all departments playing closer together and more players showing for the ball more chances were being created.

The breakthrough came through an assist from goalkeeper Ricky Timms. Shane Rackham who was playing in a midfield role anticipated one of his long kicks, after Oakington failed to deal with it Shane was left with a ball bouncing in front of him. He struck first time and his volley flew over the Oakington keeper to make it 3-1.

Legacy continued to press and made it 3-2 around half way through the second half. Some good work between Carlos Griffin and Andy Burns saw Andy put the ball into Eddie Newman. Eddie gratefully drove the ball past the Oakington keeper to put Legacy right back in the game.

Despite continuing to press and having the better play during the 2nd half, Legacy just couldn't get a 3rd goal. A Danny Smith free kick hit the bar, Shane Rackham burst through and nearly managed to cut it back for what would have been an easy finish, Andy Burns was unlucky with a shot after a goalmouth scramble from a Paul Evans corner. A good performance but not the result Legacy were after.
