Chesterton Legacy started their cup campaign hoping to make more of an impact then they had done in the league this season. Today's opponents were Fulbourn Sports who were playing in the Tucker Alliance Championship. Manager Danny Smith decided to rest several star names with no Shane Rackham, Simon Daniel and Jamie Secker with supporter of the year Michael Beckett back to watch his first away game of the season. This weeks line up consisted of Ricky in goal, Ibi and a first start of the season at centre back for Eddie with the rampaging Jon Lilley at right back and Andy Burns at left back. Danny Smith was in the centre alongside midfield hardman Oli Brittain, Prince and Carlos were again on the wings with Sam and Thainy upfront.

On a fine sunny morning Legacy started the game well, with them trying to stamp their authority from the start with a high tempo passing game and took the lead when a ball over the top from Ibi and a defensive mix let in Sam who beat the keeper to the ball and stroked it into an empty net.

The Fulbourn keeper then made a good save from Carlos before the flying winger made it 2-0 with a strike from the edge of the box after good work by Prince. Eddie Newman nearly found himself on the scoresheet when he charged forward from the back, played a clever 1-2 with Sam and his lofted effort sailed just wide of the post. Sam almost made it 3-0 when he volleyed a great strike but the keeper made an outstanding save and tipped his effort on to the bar.

Ricky Timms had barely been tested in the first half when he was picking the ball out of the net. A simple ball was put through the defence and the Fulbourn striker calmly slotted home, Legacy seemed to lose their composure and were too relaxed in their own half with the ball when a carbon copy of the first goal happened again just before half-time and Legacy found themselves drawing at the break 2-2.

Legacy started the second half the better team and Sam broke the offside trap and put in a great cross which had just a little too much pace for Thainy. Prince was again causing a nuisance down the flank with his pace and unpredictability and Legacy soon retook the lead when a cross from Sam fell at the feet of Carlos who turned smartly in the box and smashed the ball home. Sam then put Prince through and his effort was saved and Thainy had the simple task of hitting the ball into an empty net.

Pauly replaced the hardworking Sam Asplen who was carrying an injury and Eddie pushed on into a more familar attacking role. Legacy again had a two goal lead and created several more chances which would of put them out of sight. But Fulbourn dragged themselves back into the game when a cross was put in and the attacker beat Ricky to the ball and hit it into an empty net. Legacy managed to see out the game and record Danny Smith's first victory as manager and their first victory of 2011. The last time Legacy won a competitive game Amy Winehouse was alive and Arsenal were top of the Premiership!
