Chesterton Legacy after 3 consecutive away games had their first home game of the season against Littleport Sundays. The season is only 3 games old but this is already a clash between the bottom two teams so both teams were looking for their first victory of the season. Ricky started in goal and was actually sober this week as he was watched on by his wag, Simon and Pauly started at full back with Secker and Ibi at centre half. Carlos and Prince again started on the flanks with Shane and Andy in centre midfield with Eddie and Sam upfront. In what was probably the hottest Sunday league game played in October ever, Legacy took the lead after an end to end start of the game. Eddie was put through on goal with a defender closing him down, he expertly swivelled his body and bent the ball round the keeper into the far post with his right foot.
Later on in the half Eddie had a great chance to make it 2-0, but a superb save by the opposition goalkeeper meant the score line stayed at 1-0. Legacy again nearly made it 2-0 when a superb 30 yard strike from Andy Burns smashed against the crossbar and away to safety with the keeper motionless. Littleport then counter attacked down the Legacy right flank and a cross was put in towards their striker who was unmarked 6 yards out and he made good contact with the cross which for all the world looked 1-1 but thanks to a world class save from Ricky Timms who dived to his right to keep the ball out it managed to stay 1-0. Legacy were hoping to get to half-time with a 1-0 lead but unfortunately disaster struck, a routine diagonal ball from the back saw the whole Legacy backline stand like statues as the Littleport player nipped it to slot the ball past Ricky with the half finishing 1-1.
The second half again had an end to end start but Littleport started playing more route one football which was proving to be effective. They took the lead for the first time as their forward cleverly flicked the ball through for himself to run 1 on 1 with Ricky but after a great save the ball looked like it was about to loop in, when their forward made sure of it by planting the ball into the empty net. Legacy again found themselves behind for the fourth game on the trot this season and looked to equalise. Andy Burns was replaced by midfield hardman Oli Brittain. Chesterton were then given a lifeline when a deliberate handball by the Littleport defender presented Legacy with a penalty which Eddie Newman dispatched sending the keeper the wrong way.
Both teams were now looking for a winner but it was Littleport who retook the lead when a defensive slip up left their winger with a simple cross to the unmarked striker who shot went in off the post.
Danny then brought himself and Marc Thain on for the hardworking Prince and Carlos as he looked to freshen things up for an equaliser. Several half chances were created but no more goals were scored as Legacy suffered their first home defeat of the season and now find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table.
